Flight to Istanbul

Istanbul has two major international airports. Atatürk International Airport is located in Yesilkoy, on the European side of the city, 15 km from the centre. It has two terminals, dealing separately with domestic and international traffic. In 2006 more than 21 million passengers passed through it. The airport is a modern, efficient structure, which underwent considerable reconstructions last time, but it still faces capacity issues.  It is served by many airlines:

Air France, Aeroflot, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Atlasjet, operating domestic flights and Mediterranean destinations, Blue Wings (Berlin-Tegel, Bremen, Cologne/Bonn, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich, Nürnberg, Stuttgart), Delta Air Lines (New York), Iberia (Barcelona, Madrid), KLM, Korean Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa (Frankfurt, Munich), Olympic Airlines (Athens, Thessaloniki), Saudi Arabian Airlines (Riyadh, Jeddah, Madinah), Scandinavian Airlines (Stockholm), Swiss International Airlines (Zurich), and is the main hub for Turkish airlines, operating numerous destinations in eastern and western Europe, Asia, and transcontinental flights.

Sabiha Gokcen International airport was built as an auxiliary facility, when Ataturk airport became incapable of handling the increasing passenger and cargo traffic. Some international and domestic flights were redirected here. The airport is located on the Asian side of the city. Its current traffic is about 3 million passengers per year.

It is not very big, but it disposes of with state-of-the art technologies of security, flight control and passenger services. There are VIP lounges, administrative offices, car rental agencies. The airport operates AMC Airlines (Cairo), Corendon Airlines(Amsterdam, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Eindhoven, Paris, Tel Aviv), easyJet (Basel/Mulhouse, London-Luton), Germanwings, MyAir (Milan), Pegasus Airlines (Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Copenhagen, Düsseldorf, London-Stansted, Munich, Nuremberg, Samsun, Stuttgart, Trabzon, Van, Vienna).
